It started with an algorithm.
And ended in a wedding.

Blindate wasn't born in a pitch deck. It was born in Toronto in late 2021, where our founder — a software engineer living the bachelor life — had the problem most of us have now: dating was everywhere, and going nowhere. Too many options in real life, endless options on the apps, and no good way to decide.

So he did the engineer thing. Before writing a line of code, he built a process — a way of thinking, filtering, and deciding. It grew from his own dates, from honest reflection about what he actually needed versus what merely attracted him, and from long conversations with friends in relationships both healthy and toxic — because both teach you something. Then the process became an algorithm: something that could see patterns clearly and calculate what feelings tend to blur, sharpened by a deep dive into relationship science and psychology — and, to this day, by interviews with professors, dating coaches, and matchmakers around the world.

He dated for months while the algorithm improved. And then it produced its most important output — not a "perfect match," because it had already taught him those don't exist. A decision. It pointed him toward one woman, with both of their flaws in full view, and gave him the clarity to choose her — and keep choosing her through the ups and downs, with the research to back it. Four years later, they're married and stronger than ever. Blindate exists to make that outcome reproducible.
